Princeton, New Jersey — Each year there is a statewide initiative led by the New Jersey Health Care Quality Institute for townships in New Jersey to improve community health and promote healthier lifestyles for its residents. In 2007, it was called the Mayor’s Wellness Campaign. In 2019, Princeton was named a New Jersey Healthy Town to Watch for its efforts in previous campaigns.
Our project this year is all about reducing the effects of social isolation, especially post-pandemic, with the theme “Look How We Have Grown…”. Focusing on post-COVID-19 mental health, the Princeton Health Department began by hosting watercolor classes with the Princeton Arts Council to engage socially isolated people. These classes were held online and in-person and incorporated both painting and home gardening at Princeton’s Garden Club.
Continuing MWC, the Princeton Public Library will launch a series of events and activities focused on the mental health of families, children and individuals of all ages in Princeton. For a complete list of upcoming Princeton Public Library events and activities, visit the website.
