Richard Martin Joins Sports Information Staff


Lubbock, Texas (August 9, 2022) – Lubbock Christian University Associate Athletic Director – Communications Chris Dew gladly welcome Richard Martin Joined the Sports Information Department as Deputy Director of Sports Information.

“Richard ticked all the boxes during the hiring process,” Dew says. “He has an excellent set of skills, from writing and digital to his graphics to on-air broadcasting. looking forward to it.”

Martin came to LCU from Johnson City, Tennessee, where he was an Alumni Assistant in Athletic Communications for the NCAA Division II Carson-Newman. At Carson-Newman, Martin served as his SID contact for men’s soccer, cross-country, track and field, beach volleyball, and was also one of his play-by-play announcers for the Eagle Sports Network. From 2021 he was awarded the Conference Media His Relations Staff of the Year award during the 2022 campaign. Martin earned his MBA in Sports Management at his Carson-Newman.

A native of Gaffney, South Carolina, he worked for two years at Kennesaw State University as a video assistant in the athletic department prior to Carson Newman. Martin helped produce his ESPN+ broadcasts of Kennesaw State women’s basketball, volleyball, football, women’s lacrosse and baseball. A graduate of Gardner Webb (Bachelor of Arts in Journalism), Martin has played baseball media roles with the Red Wolves, Forest City, Florence and most recently Appalachia in his league Greenville. Spent on boys media relations and broadcasting.

Martin will assume his role in LCU. Everett Corder took up a correspondence position in the alumni office of his alma mater, Texas Tech University. Corder follows Zach Chavez (currently Director of Strategic Communications for the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference) and Becca Walters (currently Senior Director of Marketing and Communications at Black Hills State University) to join the LCU Office of Sports Information. has joined the list of valuable contributors to .

The LCU Sports Information Office handles all communications (archives, broadcasts, public relations, social media, websites) and match day operations for LCU sporting events. With its commitment to the Lone Star Conference Digital Network for 2021-22, LCU is ranked 3rd in LSC and 1st among non-football colleges (by LSC) in audience revenue.
