Staten Island, NY — Hot Dog Lovers, Wing Lovers, Pie Shops: Belt Your Waist! I’m anticipating a certain dining department.
The 2022 Chapter of the borough’s largest outdoor event, the largest fundraiser in historic Richmond Town, will take place over Labor Day weekend from Saturday, September 3rd to Monday, September 5th. This year the hours have been extended from noon to 7pm.
On the day of the festival, a gluttony competition will be held rain or shine. Fair Challenge fare includes donuts, hot dogs, pies from Mark’s Bake Shop in Richmond, and wings from Buffalo Wild Wings. Admission is free for challenge participants. The winner gets the privilege of winning.
Jessica B. Phillips, CEO of Historic Richmond Town, said: The fair is his three-day local event showcasing all of the fun, food, music, history and community togetherness that makes Staten Island so special. ”
Previous food vendors are Montalbano’s Pork Store, Juicy Lucy, The Boiis Co mochi-based desserts, Empanada Guy, and Latin Bites. Wine and local beer are sold by the Historical Society.
“We will also reopen the Historic Richmond Town Village store in the Fair Courthouse, which will sell collectibles and items made in Historic Richmond Town, such as tin mugs and brooms,” Phillips said.
For non-ride entertainment, the Roaming Balloon Twist Clown Binx and Ring Toss are new this year. The Ferry Hawk mascot will appear. Admission to the three bouncy houses is free. Also returning for his third year is a Culture Crawl featuring educational, arts, cultural and social nonprofits around Staten Island. Interested organizations can pay a $25 entry fee.
The cost of purchasing a 10 X 10 foot food vending space with access to power is $1,000. Non-food people pay $750. Corporate sponsors can contact Elizabeth Wilson, Head of Development, at [email protected].
There will be no baking, gardening or photography contests this year. Philips hopes to bring them back in 2023.
