New York Mets first baseman Pete Alonso was hit back by pitcher Ian Anderson during Friday night’s game against the Atlanta Braves. Anderson’s pitch flew toward Alonso’s head, but fortunately the first baseman was out of the way and not hit. But Mets manager Buck Showalter was understandably not happy.
After the pitch, SNY cameras caught Showalter staring down the field. It was clear from the look on Showalter’s face that he was upset. However, SNY has removed it in both visual and audio form, in case there is any lingering suspicion.

This isn’t something you see a lot, especially for such short notices.
These are the kinds of things you’d expect to see in a post-game show or another setting where the show’s producers spend a lot of time figuring out the right background music and figuring out what to do with the screen. But the SNY team, like Johnny on the spot, was all set to do this in a matter of seconds.
Of course, this raises one legitimate question. How will SNY follow up on this if it happens again? The steam coming out of Showalter’s nose and ears might be a nice touch, but it might be too much to ask for.
