Stop by Dunkin’ and you might see a line of sweaty customers wearing scarves the size of Lenny Kravitz. These weary pilgrims came for the mighty Pumpkin Spice Signature Latte. This one arrived at Dunkin’ every year yesterday, albeit still hot enough to deserve what I call an “evening bikini.” (Like a bikini, but formal.)
Meanwhile, Starbucks has yet to say when its Pumpkin Spice Latte (also known as PSL) will make a comeback, though some die-hard fans have suggested it could sell out around August 30. .

Nineteen years after Starbucks launched the PSL in 2003, customers are still lured by the idea of starting their day with something hot and orange. A Starbucks spokesperson told Money Scoop that more than 500 million PSLs have been sold in U.S. stores since the drink’s launch (I probably bought 300 million), so it’s the most popular. It’s no surprise that it made it onto the list of some seasonal Starbucks drinks.
Dunkin hopped on the pumpkin wagon in 2020 when it debuted the Pumpkin Spice Signature Latte (aka PSSL). Dunkin’ rep told Money Scoop that he couldn’t give hard numbers on PSSL sales, but in my neighborhood he said outside of Dunkin’ the Fall Demon Hordes were making people Show it love. this. thing. ☕
It’s no exaggeration to say that pumpkin spice flavored consumables bring in big bucks. Neither Dunkin’ nor Starbucks have confirmed specific price increases for their respective Pumpkin He spiced drinks this year, but both brands have steadily raised consumer prices since the start of the pandemic.
But before you get mad at these coffee giants, remember they’re not alone.
