Petaling Jaya, August 10 — Kedah Fashion Week 2022 (KFW2022) organizers have landed in a frenzy after guests showed up to the event without bras.
Yesterday (August 9), a photo of an unnamed woman wearing a green tailored suit without a blouse or bra began circulating on social media.
The three-day event, held at Aman Central Mall in Alor Setar, ended on August 7th.
A social media user said the woman’s dress sense was inappropriate for the local Malaysian situation.
“This is Kedah, not Paris or the Met Gala,” said one user.
Others speculated about the guest’s “true” gender. As one user said, “A real woman is not brave enough to show off her own ‘assets’. ”
But overwhelmingly, users were surprised to learn that Kedah has its own fashion week.
Datuk Dr Mohd Hayati Othman, chair of the Kedah Health and Local Government Committee, said KFW2022 organizers will be questioned for allowing scantily dressed models to attend the event.
“The organizers did not apply for a permit, nor did they receive a permit (to hold the event) from the local government.
“We will call the organizers for clarification and take necessary action (against the organizers),” he said in a Facebook post last night (August 9).
Meanwhile, Aman Central apologized for the incident, adding that it had applied for all necessary permits to host the event.
