Two men wanted for stealing wallet, cash from unlocked car in Suffolk

Police have identified who stole wallets and cash from an unlocked car in June and are seeking help from the public to identify the culprit.

Police told News 12 that they stole at least seven wallets containing cash, credit cards and driver’s licenses.

Police said the two were involved in multiple large-scale thefts in the Setauket, Terryville, Stony Brook and Port Jefferson areas.

Police released a photo of the suspect on Friday after a News 12 report of a similar incident in Holbrook.

Earlier in the week, the Suffolk County Police Commissioner said he would strengthen police presence in the affected areas, but urged residents to come forward even if they weren’t sure a crime had been committed.
