The Volkswagen Group has issued a recall of some vehicles because airbag inflators can explode.
The Volkswagen Group of America is recalling certain 2016 Golf Sportswagen, Golf R, Golf GTI, Golf A7, and E-Golf vehicles. Passenger air bags may explode or deploy improperly during air bag deployment. When the inflator explodes, sharp metal fragments can strike the occupant and cause serious injury or death. Improperly deployed airbags do not provide adequate occupant restraint, increasing the risk of injury in a crash.
